Bio
Laurie is a traditionally trained pianist and flutist. She comes from a family of talented musicians, so she has been fortunate to have been surrounded by great music her entire life.

Laurie has played piano for 35+ years and formerly taught traditional piano lessons and Kindermusik classes. Currently she is a keyboardist and backup vocalist for the local rock band, Five Decades. She has always loved having music as a companion and thoroughly enjoys sharing that opportunity with her students. When Laurie began teaching the Simply Music program in 2004, she discovered a refreshing, new philosophy in music education and a new world of opportunities for both students and teachers.

Laurie enjoys life with her husband, 3 children, 2 cats, 1 dog, 2 pianos, 1 keyboard, 2 flutes and guitar. She has a B.S. from the University of Nebraska.

Testimonials
Amy Purintun, Gretna - NE
With their previous lessons, the kids would try to get out of playing for others, and when they finally did play, it was only the one piece they had memorized for recital. Now, after only a few Simply Music lessons, the kids fight with each other over who gets to perform their entire playlist! What a refreshing change!!

I believe that ANYONE wanting to learn to play the piano can be successful with the Simply Music method. Being able to play REAL music all along the way kept me motivated and excited to learn more. Not only am I now playing more complicated pieces from sheet music but all along the way I have been playing music that seemed way beyond what a new piano student would play. Every person who has heard what I can play in just three short years is amazed. But these friends and family have been amazed from the beginning because each step of the way, I've played everything from blues to jazz to classical that increased in complexity over these few years.

For most of my life I have loved to listen to the music of the piano. Each time I listened, I wished that I could play. Then I found out about Simply Music and contacted Laurie. A magical combination. The Simply Music method of learning to play the piano coupled with the expertise and positive attitude of Laurie have allowed my wish. I couldn't have wished for a better experience. Now, after less than 3 years, I can play piano and read music. The only thing I lack is an unobtrusive tip jar. Thank you Laurie and Simply Music.

I was a music major in college. I trained in classical music and always wanted my kids to play an instrument. When I heard about this method I was skeptical because it seemed too good to be true. I can't believe it! Three months into the lessons, they are playing melodic, complex, fun pieces. I don't have to whine at them to practice. I marvel as I watch how it uses the right brain and how much fun the group lessons are. I am required to attend the lessons, which I was not sure about initially. But I love it now because it gives me a unique experience with my kids, I know what they are learning and can reinforce the process at home. I highly recommend this for any age-young or old. Laurie is a gifted pianist and teacher and knows the method well. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
